When the physician has determined that the patient is ready to be discharged, he/she will write orders for release from the hospital. Someone responsible will be required to go to the business office to obtain a discharged slip. This slip must be delivered to the staff personnel at the nursing station before the patient leaves the hospital.
Before leaving McKenzie Memorial Hospital, the patient needs to:
- Gather all personal belongings, including valuables left in the hospital safe or personal medications brought here.
- Check with the nurses regarding any discharge prescriptions, doctor’s appointments or discharge instructions the physician may have left.
- Make necessary transportation arrangements in advance.
